NEP (Nieuw Eindhovens Peil) is a freshly born foundation out of the ashes of Stroomhuis Eindhoven.
Stroomhuis was a cultural center in Eindhoven that functioned for 25 years before tragically being lost to a fire in October 2024. This was personally for me an important place, where I learned so organise and bring people together, and where I could use all creative workshops for experiments, making me into the person I am today. For my community this building meant everything, it meant the community itself. A place where young teenagers could find solid ground and meet older artists and organisers to learn from. Within Stroomhuis generation after generation brought energy and creativity to the space by hosting concerts, parties, film nights, exhibitions, managing the band rehearsal and many workshops.
Together with a resilient group of creatives we decided to continue our work. Our building may be lost, but we are still here. We continued organising events, mostly focusing on alternative music, under the name NEP (Nieuw Eindhovens Peil). But as we believed a physical space for free development of art, music and politics is needed in every city we continued discussing with the municipality, and finding our own ways, to reastablish a new building. In september 2026, with so much love and pride, we opened the doors of DE BEUK at Vestdijk 25 in Eindhoven. This is a temporary space for 4 years while together with the municapality of Eindhoven and Bureau Franken we develop a new cultural center for the future of this city.

Stroomhuis model
The Stroomhuis was a cultural centre in Eindhoven. Sadly, the iconic building was lost to a large fire last October 2024. The Stroomhuis was known for its concerts and for connecting the music scene. It was also a place for art and design. After the fire, many people in the cultural scene felt shocked. For Eindhoven-based designer and former tenant Rosalie Braamkolk, it was a time to reflect: how do we commemorate something that ended so drastically?
This playful model is a reconstruction, based on memories. It shares the story of what happened in the Stroomhuis. The work is a homage to resilience. What was created there, lives on and needs to find a new home in the city. This work is not only about losing a venue, but also about the value of cultural spaces. These are places where one can create and where ideas come to life. Braamkolk wants to express that we must appreciate these places, and the people who contribute to them. The model travels to several key locations in Eindhoven.
